Marie Louise Heffernan CEnv, MCIEEM MSc has 25 years’ experience working on the Habitats Directive through her company Aster Environmental Consultants. She has trained over 500 professionals to date in this area.

Learning Objective

Mitigating measures are a key part of both Appropriate Assessment and Environmental Impact Assessment. The course will teach participants to:

  1. Identify mitigation required in respect of species and habitats
  2. Understand the three types of mitigation: avoidance, management and physical mitigation.
  3. Apply best practice mitigation measures for habitats and species listed under the Wildlife Act and Habitats Directive
