Marie Louise Heffernan CEnv, MCIEEM MSc has 30 years’ experience working with birds through her company Aster Environmental Consultants. She has carried out numerous surveys of both wintering and breeding birds. She has been part of bird research team at MAFF UK and carried out bird research for NPWS in Ireland.

Learning Objective

The objective is to teach bird identification skills

  1. How to select optical equiqment, optimum weather and tidal conditions
  2. Key features of wintering water birds and how to use these for identification in the field.
  3. Separating difficult birds by features.
